| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Nancy H. DeGrand of Alton |
4 |
| on Friday, February 10, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Born September 5, 1923, in Alton, Mrs. DeGrand was |
6 |
| the daughter of the late Herbert Christopher and Mary Louise |
7 |
| (Rousseau) Hellrung; she was a 1940 graduate of Marquette |
8 |
| Catholic High School, and she married Robert Lee DeGrand on |
9 |
| April 26, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in |
10 |
| Alton; he preceded her in death on July 16, 1981; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, She retired in 1996 as financial officer at Hayner |
12 |
| Public Library after 22 years of dedicated service; she then |
13 |
| served as a member of the board of directors at Hayner until |
14 |
| her death; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. DeGrand was a longtime member of Saints Peter |
16 |
| and Paul Catholic Church in Alton, where she served as a lector |
17 |
| and was a member of the parish council and the Altar Society; |
18 |
| she was one of the founders of the Alton Junior Service League, |
19 |
| a founder of the Alton Chapter of the March of Dimes, and a |
20 |
| former president of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, She will be remembered as a loving mother, |
22 |
| grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many; she |
23 |
| enjoyed reading, golfing, playing bridge, and bowling, and was |
24 |
| an avid Cardinals baseball fan; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Nancy H. DeGrand has been deeply |
26 |
| felt by many, especially her children and their spouses, Mary |
27 |
| Louise Watson, Stephanie Ann DeGrand, the Rev. Robert L. |
28 |
| DeGrand Jr., Yoland Marie and Mark Plunkett, Alfred Vincent and |
29 |
| Karen DeGrand, Peter Joseph and Valli DeGrand, Thomas Anthony |
30 |
| DeGrand, Luke and Karen DeGrand, and Anastasia and Gary Phelps; |
