| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of James (Jimmie) Gardley Sr. |
4 |
| on Friday, January 27, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Gardley was a true Christian, father, |
6 |
| benefactor, and inspiration to all who knew him; he shared his |
7 |
| wealth and knowledge with the poor and those who needed advice; |
8 |
| and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, He was involved in many political and civic |
10 |
| organizations; he worked as a precinct captain under the late |
11 |
| Ralph H. Metcalfe, and he was president of the Building Council |
12 |
| #17 of the Robert Taylor Homes, where he gained the respect of |
13 |
| the residents as their benefactor; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, He organized a baseball league at the Robert |
15 |
| Taylor Homes to divert youths from criminal pursuits into |
16 |
| legitimate healthy avenues of self-expression; he also |
17 |
| sponsored many students in college; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Gardley did not limit his support only to the |
19 |
| African-American community; he spread his goodwill, charity, |
20 |
| love, and understanding to the white and Hispanic communities |
21 |
| as well; his kindness knew no boundaries; he was still very |
22 |
| active in various communities, assisting people mentally, |
23 |
| physically, and financially through his business, Gardley |
24 |
| Consultant Service; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
26 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
27 |
| James (Jimmie) Gardley Sr., and we extend our deepest sympathy |
28 |
| to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
29 |
