| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Deacon Isaiah Cunningham of |
4 |
| North Chicago on November 7, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Deacon Isaiah Cunningham was born on January 12, |
6 |
| 1918, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to Frank and Lola |
7 |
| Cunningham; he accepted Christ at an early age and in 1923, the |
8 |
| family moved to North Chicago; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, In 1924, the Deacon Cunningham united with First |
10 |
| Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a |
11 |
| cornerstone of wisdom and knowledge; his dedication to First |
12 |
| Corinthian resulted in several awards and commendations |
13 |
| throughout the years; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, He married Ann Cunningham in 1949; to this union |
15 |
| four children were born; he was a U.S. Army Veteran who served |
16 |
| his country during World War II; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Deacon Isaiah Cunningham retired as a mechanic |
18 |
| from Chrysler Motors after 35 years of service; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Deacon Isaiah Cunningham has been |
20 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his daughter, Betty Christmas; |
21 |
| his sons, Shelly Vernell Powell, Rickey (Jean) Cunningham, and |
22 |
| Gerald Cunningham; his 15 grandchildren; his |
23 |
| great-granddaughter; his godsons, Mildren "Butch" Hooper and |
24 |
| Rev. John (Debra) Patterson Jr.; and his many other relatives |
25 |
| and dear friends; he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 |
26 |
| years, Ann Cunningham; his parents, Lola and Frank Cunningham; |
27 |
| his brothers, Berry, Mack, Lawrence, Harrison, William, |
28 |
| Willie, and Frank Cunningham; and his sister, Alma Abrahams; |
