| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of David Wasson Hindman of |
4 |
| Herrin on January 15, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born March 2, 1942, in Herrin, to Tom and |
6 |
| Margaret (Wasson) Hindman; he married Sharon "Sherry" Hunsaker |
7 |
| March 27, 1964, in Hurst; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hindman received his bachelor's degree from |
9 |
| Southern Illinois University and his master's from the |
10 |
| University of Illinois; he was awarded a superintendent's |
11 |
| endorsement from SIU; he taught junior high science and math at |
12 |
| Hurst-Bush and then worked for the State of Illinois Election |
13 |
| Board; after serving as assistant regional superintendent for |
14 |
| Williamson County, he was elected as superintendent and served |
15 |
| 2 terms; he was then hired as superintendent of Herrin Unit 4 |
16 |
| Schools, where he was instrumental in building the Herrin |
17 |
| Elementary School, Herrin High School, and making improvements |
18 |
| district wide; after his retirement in 2001, Mr. Hindman worked |
19 |
| as assistant regional superintendent in Jackson County and was |
20 |
| appointed to the financial board of the Cairo School District; |
21 |
| and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of First Christian Church in |
23 |
| Herrin; he was also a member of the Herrin Elks Club, Herrin |
24 |
| Civic Center Board, was chairman of the Special Education |
25 |
| Board, Illinois Education Association, National Education |
26 |
| Association, Egyptian Antique Auto Club, and the EAA Aviation |
27 |
| Club; and
|
28 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of David W. Hindman has been deeply |
29 |
| felt by many, especially his wife, Sherry Hindman; his son and |
30 |
| daughter-in-law, Derek and Rebecca Hindman; his grandsons, |
31 |
| Matthew and Joshua Hindman; his mother, Margaret Hindman; his |
