SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of James H. "Jeep" Greer Jr.
4 of Alton on Friday, January 6, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Born June 21, 1953, in Denmark, Tennessee, he was
6 the son of Stella Greer of Alton and the late James H. Greer
7 Sr.; a graduate of Alton Senior High School, he attended the
8 University of Colorado and received an associate degree from
9 Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He married the former Jane Pitts on December 11,
11 1993; he was employed by the city of Alton in various
12 capacities, including Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and
13 the Police Department as assistant chief of Animal Control; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Missionary
15 Baptist Church, where he was president of the usher board and a
16 member of the Brotherhood; he was active in the church and
17 community, doing whatever was needed; he chaired the
18 Restoration Committee for Hellrung Park; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The passing of James H. "Jeep" Greer Jr. has been
20 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Jane; his sons,
21 Lindsey and Cedric Greer and Justin Washpun-Greer and his wife,
22 Chiquita; his daughters, Danielle McDonald and her husband,
23 David, and Erica Smith; his 10 grandchildren; his sisters,
24 Barbara Mitchell and her husband, Jimmy, Valerie Greer, Stacey
25 Greer, Brenda Slack and her husband, Danny, and Nancy Chapman;
26 his brothers, Gregory and Ronald Greer and Harold Greer and his
27 wife, Donna; and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
28 cousins, and friends; he was preceded in death by his father,
29 his grandparents, and a nephew; therefore, be it
 
30     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2 James H. "Jeep" Greer Jr., and we extend our sincere
3 condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
4 him; and be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
7 sympathy.
