SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Esma Saliba Fisher of
4 Herrin on Sunday, November 20, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on January 14, 1907, in Herrin to
6 Charlie and Fouse Simmons; and
 
7     WHEREAS, She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of
8 Herrin for longer than anyone can remember, and she was active
9 in the Presbyterian Women's Association, the John Calvin
10 Circle, and the Westminister Circle; she also served as deacon
11 and trustee; she had been a member of the American Legion
12 Auxiliary (past president), the American War Mothers (past
13 president), and the Herrin Women's Club; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Following her retirement from F.W. Woolworth Co.,
15 she was a volunteer at the Marion Veterans Affairs Hospital for
16 11 years and later was a volunteer in the Gift Garden at Herrin
17 Hospital; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The passing of Esma Saliba Fisher has been deeply
19 felt by many, especially her son, Albert (Christina) Saliba;
20 her daughter, Lula (Carl); her grandchildren, Sherry (Bret)
21 Dougherty, Lisa Marlow (John Taylor), Jeffrey (Maria) Steele,
22 Gregory Steele, Douglas Steele, and Sam and Paige Saliba; her
23 great-grandchildren, Domonic Marlow, and Lenny, Michael, and
24 Evan Steele; her nephews, Richard (Itch) Sue Jones and Robert
25 (Cowboy) Jones; her great-niece and nephew, Susan Rae and
26 Michael Jones; and her special friend, Dorothy Unruh; she was
27 preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Mike Saliba and
28 Harold Fisher; and her sister, Rosine Jones; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1 Esma Saliba Fisher, and we extend our sincere condolences to
2 her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3 further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
6 sympathy.
