| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |

| learned with sadness of the death of Luke Matarelli of Peoria |
4 |
| on November 4, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Matarelli was born June 1, 1926, in Toluca, to |
6 |
| Luca and Teresa Antonacci Matarelli; he married Norma Lea |
7 |
| Fisher on January 10, 1948, in Peoria; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 on an |
9 |
| aircraft carrier during World War II; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, He attended Bradley University, where he majored |
11 |
| in architectural engineering and drawing; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Matarelli was a businessman in Peoria for over |
13 |
| 50 years; he was a building contractor and real estate |
14 |
| developer, owning and operating L. Matarelli & Son |
15 |
| Construction, along with Matarelli Equipment, Matarelli Fine |
16 |
| Furniture, Peoria Trading Post, and L.M. Enterprises, and was a |
17 |
| managing partner in Mid-Land Trust, along with other |
18 |
| businesses; he was well-respected in the business community; |
19 |
| and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, but |
21 |
| also attended Sacred Heart and St. Sharbel's Catholic churches, |
22 |
| all of Peoria; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, He was a past member of Sunset Hills Country Club; |
24 |
| he loved golfing and was an avid collector; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his |
26 |
| brothers, Joe and Don Matarelli; and his sisters, Clara Hunter |
27 |
| and Jenny Kaufman; and
