| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jimmie |
4 |
| (Jim) Hunt Hazelrigg, who passed away on October 12, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Jim Hazelrigg was born on March 31, 1929 to Harry |
6 |
| and Helene Hazelrigg; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, After graduating from Decatur High School, Mr. |
8 |
| Hazelrigg attended Millikin University while working at the |
9 |
| family business, Hazelrigg Chrysler; in 1950, he married his |
10 |
| high school sweetheart, Beverly Heinzelmann; he was soon |
11 |
| inducted into the service, where he was stationed in Germany |
12 |
| during the Korean war; he returned to the car business after |
13 |
| the war and continued as President of the business until the |
14 |
| time of his death; Jim and Beverly raised three children |
15 |
| together until the time of her death in 1984; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hazelrigg always found time to give back to |
17 |
| his community; through his seven years on the Decatur school |
18 |
| board, as a member and as President, he was strongly committed |
19 |
| to providing good educational opportunities for all Decatur |
20 |
| school children; he was a member of the Illinois Large District |
21 |
| Counsel of School Boards, the Decatur Mental Health Development |
22 |
| Board, and the Economic Development Board for Decatur; and he |
23 |
| was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, Through his work with the Decatur School Board, |
25 |
| Mr. Hazelrigg met Ardath Tolly, whom he married in October of |
26 |
| 1984; together with Ardath, he welcomed six grandchildren into |
27 |
| the family; "Popo" was the favorite "big kid" among all of his |
28 |
| grandchildren and could often be found making chocolate |
29 |
| milkshakes for breakfast when any of the grandkids were |
30 |
| visiting; and
