| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
|

| learned with sadness of the death of Charles "Goose" Sullivan |
4 |
| of
Herrin, formerly of Johnston City, on September 28, 2005; |
5 |
| and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Charlie was born August 2, 1942 in Cairo to
|
7 |
| Kenneth Lewis and Mary (Clayton) Sullivan; he graduated from |
8 |
| Cairo
High School in 1960; he married Dorothy Willis of Cape |
9 |
| Girardeau, Missouri
; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, He was an experienced electrician for Sullivan |
11 |
| Electric before he was disabled by multiple sclerosis; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, "Goose" Sullivan was a renowned champion duck and |
13 |
| goose caller, amassing many national and Illinois State awards |
14 |
| within the first 15 years after his high school graduation; for |
15 |
| example, he placed first nationally 7 times in the Coon Squall |
16 |
| category and he placed first 15 times in Illinois in several |
17 |
| categories, including Champion of Champions; most |
18 |
| impressively, in national calling contests, "Goose" achieved |
19 |
| the National Title of Champion of Champions 4 times; "Goose" |
20 |
| was known far and wide as a legendary hunting guide; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, Charlie played bass guitar for the popular '60s |
22 |
| band 'The Mod's' and enjoyed playing with other members of 'The |
23 |
| Mod's', Kyle Lehning, John Steinhouse, Neil Needham, and Donnie |
24 |
| Dickerson when they entertained the crowds that came to hear |
25 |
| them play; and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, While many people were saddened to learn of his |
27 |
| death, Charlie's passing also reminded his friends of his |
28 |
| unforgettable wit, humor, and charm; and
|
29 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father; and |
