| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the untimely death of Tombol Malik on on |
4 |
| July 9, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, As a young boy, Tombol memorized the names of |
6 |
| cities in countries across the world; as a young man, he |
7 |
| enjoyed traveling and had recently visited Brazil, Ireland, and |
8 |
| Egypt; he was a political science major at the University of |
9 |
| Illinois at Chicago and a budding photographer who planned to |
10 |
| study in Germany; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, The youngest child of an American mother and |
12 |
| Sudanese father, Tombol grew up in the Chicago community of |
13 |
| Hyde Park with Shiera, Sati, and Samil, his older siblings who |
14 |
| doted on him; he graduated from Ray Elementary School and |
15 |
| Kenwood Academy High School and played for years on the Hyde |
16 |
| Park-Kenwood baseball team; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, He was a lifelong White Sox fan and had high hopes |
18 |
| for this baseball season; he also loved literature and going |
19 |
| out dancing with his friends, many of whom he had known his |
20 |
| entire life; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, His untimely death has left a void in the hearts |
22 |
| of all who knew him, especially his mother, Karen Brobst; his |
23 |
| father, Sharafuddin Mohamed Hamad Al-Malik; his brothers and |
24 |
| sister; and his large extended family; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
27 |
| Tombol Malik, and we extend our sincere condolences to his |
28 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
29 |
