SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Dorothy Jean Miller on May
4 14, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on August 28, 1935, to XL and Mary
6 Bracy-McGee in Brookhaven, Mississippi; she went to beauty
7 school and received her license as a beautician and retired
8 from Northside Cleaners; she was also an Eastern Star; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Dorothy and Eddie were married for 47 years and
10 raised 7 children; she took great joy in caring for her
11 grandchildren; her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews loved
12 going over to granny's house; and
 
13     WHEREAS, After moving to Chicago, she united with Omega
14 Baptist Church; on Monday, September 12, 1983, Mrs. Miller
15 along with Rev. Alvin Moore and sixteen other steadfast
16 Christians assembled at the Brookteer's residence; these
17 faithful members were known as "The Christian Believers"; on
18 November 22, 1983, "The Christian Believers" became Alpha
19 Temple Missionary Baptist Church; Mrs. Miller was President of
20 the choir twice and remained a faithful member until her
21 illness and death; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of Dorothy Jean Miller has been deeply
23 felt by many, especially her husband, Eddie; her sister, Mable
24 (Willie); her brothers, Isaiah (Maggie), XL "Sonny", and James
25 (Bertha); her daughters, Little Joyce, Big Joyce, and Cynthia;
26 her sons, Willie (Glyness), John Eddie (Mary), David (Janice),
27 and John (Shulon); her seventeen grandchildren; her seven
28 great-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins,
29 family, and friends; she was preceded in death by her parents
30 and her sisters, Pearl, Shirley Ann, and Irene; therefore, be
31 it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Dorothy Jean Miller, and we extend our sincere condolences to
4 her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
8 sympathy.
