SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Derrick L. Pollion on May
4 7, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Derrick Lavon Pollion was born to Andrew and
6 Frances Pollion on September 4, 1956, in Fort Hood, Texas; he
7 attended Beethoven Elementary, DuSable Upper Grade Center, and
8 DuSable High School in Chicago; and
 
9     WHEREAS, His desire to play the guitar started at the young
10 age of fourteen; "D", as he was called by those who knew and
11 loved him, was a band member of the Rayson's and Windy City;
12 these were both small groups, formerly from the Robert Taylor
13 Homes in the 1970s; they also played with "Touch of Class" for
14 26 years; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He married Linda Harris on September 14, 1974; on
16 July 25, 1997, he married Ann Sims Pollion in Chicago; he was a
17 very sweet, kind, and loving person, with a big heart, and he
18 loved his music; he was a very hard worker for Catholic
19 Charities for fourteen years; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Derrick Lavon Pollion has been
21 deeply felt by many, especially his father, Andrew Pollion; his
22 loving wife, Ann Pollion; his daughter, Tameka Pollion; his
23 stepchildren, Rosamae Sims, Rosemarie Sims, Daniel Sims, David
24 Sims, and Angel Harris; his grandchildren, Lutrma, Eugene, Jr.,
25 Jamonte, Jasmine, Terrel, Kirara Jenikins, David III, Me'kial,
26 Dajah'nette, and Latoynette; his sisters, Rose (Anthony
27 Hillard), Heide (Larry White), Marquita Pollion, and Karen
28 (Joseph Johnson, Sr.); his brothers, Guy Pollion and Terrance
29 L. Pollion (Rose); his uncles, John, Raymond, Ossie, Melvin,
30 and BJ; his aunts, Rosemary, Margret, Maggie, Lorraine, Essie,
31 Rosie, and Geneva; his nephews, William, Cortez, Patrell,

1 Terrance, David Prendell, Christopher, and Joseph Jr.; his
2 nieces, Chot'sani, Lakila, Luvenia, Cloyvonne, Christina, and
3 Treshonda; and his many relatives and friends; he was preceded
4 in death by his mother, Frances Pollion; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7 Derrick L. Pollion, and we extend our sincere condolences to
8 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
12 sympathy.
