| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Hosea Auburn Thomas of |
4 |
| West Frankfort on August 5, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas was born December 23, 1920, in
Hamilton |
6 |
| County, to William C. and Etta (Engram) Thomas; he married |
7 |
| Jylonda Irene Murphy on May 29, 1945; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a World War II veteran, serving as a |
9 |
| technical sergeant in the U.S. Army with Merrill's Marauders in |
10 |
| Burma; he was a lifetime coal miner, retiring in 1983 from the |
11 |
| Old Ben Coal Company; and he was a member of Caldwell Baptist |
12 |
| Church in Benton; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his four |
14 |
| sisters and four brothers; his son-in-law, Leonard Trotter; and |
15 |
| his great-grandchild, Kody Morhet; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Hosea Thomas is felt by all who |
17 |
| knew and loved him, especially his wife of 60 years, Jylonda; |
18 |
| his children, Terry Trotter, Hosea Thomas Jr. and wife Marilyn, |
19 |
| Ervin Thomas and wife Paula, Mike Thomas and wife Lisa, Janet |
20 |
| Wilson and husband Chris, Stacy Thomas and wife Judy, and Tracy |
21 |
| Thomas and wife Lori; his 23 grandchildren and 12 |
22 |
| great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Anna Melvin and Hazel |

| Gunter; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
26 |
| Hosea Thomas and extend our sincerest condolences to his |
27 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
|
28 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
29 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
