SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Curtis S. Blevins of Wood
4 River on June 12, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Blevins was born September 14, 1929, in Wood
6 River to George "Shorty" and Ruby (Shirley) Blevins; he married
7 the former Patricia Coale Napp on May 5, 1976; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the
9 Korean War; after his return from the war, he opened Blevins
10 Root Beer Stand in Wood River; he then became a co-owner of
11 Wood River Bowl; he continued in the environmental services
12 department of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville until
13 retiring in 1992; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a life member of Wood River VFW Post 2859,
15 a member and past commander of Wood River American Legion Post
16 204, a past State of Illinois sergeant-at-arms for the American
17 Legion, and past chef of the Forty & Eight Voiture 391; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his
19 brother, James Blevins; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Curtis S. Blevins will be felt by
21 all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Patricia; his
22 sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Blevins, Greg Blevins, and
23 Mark and Laura Blevins; his daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley
24 and Rick Lankford and Tammy and Paul Caradonna; his
25 grandchildren, Christopher Blevins, Tori Hoffman, Gina
26 Blevins, Keri Blevins, Denise Blevins, Matthew Blevins, Chad
27 Lankford, Kyle Lankford, and Kayla Caradonna; his
28 mother-in-law, Vera Coale; and his aunt, Fern Tucker;
29 therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Curtis Blevins and extend our sincerest condolences to his
4 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
7 sympathy.
