| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Bessie Mae Brown of Alton |
4 |
| on July 31, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown was born January 15, 1935 in Cleveland, |
6 |
| Mississippi, to Johnnie and Minerva (Zolicoffer) Blue; she |
7 |
| married Rev. Carnell Brown Sr. on November 28, 1957; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, She was a bus driver for the Alton School System |
9 |
| and also for Bi-State Bus System, from where she retired in |
10 |
| 2001; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, She was a member of St. James Baptist Church for |
12 |
| 39 years and was active in all aspects of the church; later, |
13 |
| she was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton, |
14 |
| where she was active in B.S.F. Bible study and the choir; she |
15 |
| loved flowers and her family; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father and her |
17 |
| daughter, Little Bessie Brown; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Bessie Mae Brown is felt by all who |
19 |
| knew and loved her, especially her husband; her mother, Minerva |
20 |
| Furlow; her daughters, Sherry McCrady and husband Rev. Darrell |
21 |
| and Reba Brown; her sons, Carnell Brown Jr. and wife Vicki, |
22 |
| Rev. Raynard Brown and wife Ann, and Aaron Brown; and her 14 |
23 |
| grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
25 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
26 |
| Bessie Mae Brown and extend our sincerest condolences to her |
27 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
