SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Lucille Presley of North
4 Chicago on Thursday, April 21, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born in Canton, Mississippi, to Louis and
6 Hattie Brown; she was united in marriage to Rufus Presley, Sr.,
7 on November 16, 1936, in Sledge, Mississippi; he preceded her
8 in death; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She relocated with her family to North Chicago in
10 1948; she was a member of the Mount Sinai Baptist Church and
11 was a dedicated member of the Willing Workers and Flower Clubs;
12 and
 
13     WHEREAS, She was also preceded in death by her daughters,
14 Mattie Frazier and Elnora Presley; her son, Robert Presley; her
15 grandson, Franklin Presley; her sisters, Classie Young, Hattie
16 Starnes, Louise Barnes, Bertha Powell, and Sonia Harper; her
17 brothers, Leon Brown, Rufus Brown, Walter Brown, Copeland
18 Brown, Soloman Brown, J.B. Brown, James Brown, Louis Brown, and
19 Raymond Rogers; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Mrs. Presley has been deeply felt
21 by many, especially her daughters, Jeannie (Arthur Bailey)
22 Presley, Ruthia (William) Mayo, Maria (Tony Callahan) Presley,
23 Irene (Bill) Mayfield, and Dorothy (Acho) Ingram; her sons,
24 Rufus, Jr., (Betty Banks), Henry (Terry), Leo (Sherian), and
25 Leroy (Regina); her sisters, Minnie Parker, Willie Dean
26 Chapman, Arquilla Porter, Thelma (Sylvester) Milton, Cubbie
27 Flemings, Betty Williams, and Celeola (Ben) Evans; her
28 brothers, James Brown and John Brown; her sisters-in-law,
29 Maggie Brown and Quincy Brown; her many nieces, nephews,
30 relatives, and friends; a special friend, Ms. Pearl Warren; and
31 a special "daughter", Ms. Elizabeth (Gage) Gilmore; therefore,

2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 Lucille Presley, and we extend our sincere condolences to her
5 family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
6 further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
9 sympathy.
