| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of James "Curtis" Smith of |
4 |
| Anna, formerly of Dongola, on July 20, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Smith was born March 1, 1912, in Bloomfield, |
6 |
| Missouri, to Leonard and Mary Thomas Smith; he married Faye |
7 |
| Jewel Taylor on March 9, 1935; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He worked in maintenance at a school and a bowling |
9 |
| alley; he was a farmer, logger, and had also worked at a rock |
10 |
| quarry; he loved gardening and antiquing; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; |
12 |
| his son, Dick L. Smith; his daughter, Iris Modglin; and his |
13 |
| brother, Leonard Smith; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of James Smith is felt by all who knew |
15 |
| and loved him, especially his daughters, Kay and husband Gino |
16 |
| Dalponte, Catherine and husband Herb Garrey, Nancy and husband |
17 |
| Tom Kiddle, and Pamela and husband Doug Inglish; his son, Mike |
18 |
| Smith; his son-in-law, George Modglin; his 14 grandchildren; |
19 |
| his 13 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Almeta Modglin |
20 |
| and Lenora Canupp; his brother-in-law, Grant Taylor; and his |
21 |
| nieces, nephews, and other relatives; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our most |
24 |
| sincere regret at the passing of James "Curtis" Smith and |
25 |
| extend our condolences to his family and friends; and be it |
26 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
29 |
| sympathy.
