| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Barron R. "Mr. Fresh" Rice |
4 |
| of Springfield on Wednesday, May 25, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on September 5, 1970, to his proud |
6 |
| parents, Roscoe and Irene Rice, in Indianola, Mississippi; he |
7 |
| was a 1989 graduate of Gentry High School in Indianola; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Following high school, he moved to Springfield and |
9 |
| attended Mr. John's Barber College; he founded and was the |
10 |
| proud owner of Mr. Fresh Barber and Beauty Salon; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, At an early age, he was baptized at St. James |
12 |
| Missionary Baptist Church in
Indianola; he was a member of Zion |
13 |
| Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fresh was known for his willingness to serve |
15 |
| humanity and for the ability to make light of any tense |
16 |
| situation with his flair for comic relief; he served as a |
17 |
| mentor to his family and friends and was an inspiration to all |
18 |
| who knew him; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Barron R. "Mr. Fresh" Rice has been |
20 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his mother, Irene Rice; his |
21 |
| brothers, Portis "Chop" Rice, Ricky Smith, and Ricky Anderson; |
22 |
| his sisters, Fatina Rice, Gloria Shaw, Debra Rice, and Kathryn |
23 |
| Rice; his god brother, Brian "Big B" Williams; his special |
24 |
| friend, Edward Knox; and his many nephews, nieces, uncles, |
25 |
| aunts, cousins, other relatives, and friends; he was preceded |
26 |
| in death by his father; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
