| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Helen M. DeMand of Wood |
4 |
| River on Sunday, April 10, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on March 2, 1925, in Ironton, |
6 |
| Missouri, to Sherman and Hattie (Fahland) Barnes; she married |
7 |
| Jacob A. DeMand on June 27, 1943, in Fredericktown, Missouri; |
8 |
| he preceded her in death on August 5, 2000; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. DeMand had worked as a clerk at Reese Drugs |
10 |
| in Wood River and was retired; she was an active resident at |
11 |
| Foxes Grove Retirement Community; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Helen M. DeMand has been deeply |
13 |
| felt by many, especially her daughter, Margaret "Peggy" |
14 |
| Gilreath and her husband, Curtis; her son, James "Pete" DeMand; |
15 |
| her daughter-in-law, Mary (the wife of the late John E. |
16 |
| DeMand); her grandchildren, Dawn Kessler, Nathan Gilreath, |
17 |
| Jason DeMand, Jessica Laird, Jim DeMand, Laura Hamilton, and |
18 |
| Nina Slifer; her great-grandchildren, Collin, Kaitlyn, Megan, |
19 |
| Jeffrey, John, and Kayla; and her brother, Sherman A. Barnes |
20 |
| and his wife, Rosemarie; in addition to her husband, she was |
21 |
| also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gertrude |
22 |
| Selinger; and her brothers, Robert, Pat, and Edgar Barnes; |
23 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
26 |
| Helen M. DeMand, and we extend our sincerest condolences to her |
27 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
28 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
