| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Neanetta "Nettie" Smith of |
4 |
| Springfield on Sunday, May 15, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on June 18, 1918, in Springfield to |
6 |
| William J. and Katherine Schierlang Conroy; she married Harold |
7 |
| J. Smith on January 28, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri; he |
8 |
| preceded her in death on February 5, 1994; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of St. |
10 |
| Joseph Catholic Church; she loved to play Bingo and cards; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, When she passed from this life, Mrs. Smith was in |
12 |
| the presence of each one of her children; her passing has been |
13 |
| deeply felt by many, especially her sons, Harold Martin (wife, |
14 |
| Mary Ann) Smith, Ronald E. (wife, Donna) Smith, and Edward J. |
15 |
| (wife, Deborah) Smith; her daughters, Karen Marie (husband, |
16 |
| Richard E.) Phillips and Sandra Jo (husband, Jack) Connor; her |
17 |
| nine grandchildren; her 17 great-grandchildren; her sisters, |
18 |
| Marie Magro and Lorraine Turley; and her many nieces, nephews, |
19 |
| and cousins; in addition to her husband, she was also preceded |
20 |
| in death by her parents; her grandsons, William Connor and |
21 |
| Brian Phillips; and her sister, Kathleen Turasky; therefore, be |
22 |
| it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
24 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
25 |
| Neanetta "Nettie" Smith, and we extend our deepest sympathy to |
26 |
| her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
27 |
| further
|
28 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
29 |
| presented to her family as an expression of our sincerest |
30 |
| condolences during their time of bereavement.
