| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death in Kuwait of U.S. Army Staff |
4 |
| Sergeant Donald B. Farmer of Zion on December 19, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on March 18, 1971; he was a high |
6 |
| school football and track standout who joined the U.S. Marine |
7 |
| Corps after attending college for two years in North Dakota, |
8 |
| serving from 1991 to 1995; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, He joined the U.S. Army in 1995, the same year he |
10 |
| married his childhood sweetheart, Shonda, whom he met in |
11 |
| elementary school;
he was a member of the 96th Transportation |
12 |
| Company, 180th Transportation Battalion, 13th Corps Support |
13 |
| Command based in Fort Hood, Texas; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Staff Sergeant Donald B. Farmer has |
15 |
| been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Shonda; his |
16 |
| daughter, Charon; his son, Da'Shaun; his stepdaughter, Darion |
17 |
| Nash; and his mother, Gwendolyn Farmer; therefore, be it
|
18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
19 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
20 |
| U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Donald B. Farmer, and we extend our |
21 |
| sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
22 |
| and loved him; and be it further |
23 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Staff Sergeant Farmer |
24 |
| and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him |
25 |
| making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
|
26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
27 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
28 |
| sympathy.
