| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the recent death of Sarah A. Miller of |
4 |
| Maywood; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on May 4, 1924, in Ackerman, |
6 |
| Mississippi, to Vera and Beason Miller; her family moved to |
7 |
| Maywood in 1930; a lifelong resident of Maywood, she attended |
8 |
| Washington Elementary and Proviso High School; she was a |
9 |
| 22-year employee of American Can Company until retirement; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, She was married to Adam Parks and through this |
11 |
| union, one child was born; she was a loving and nurturing |
12 |
| mother to Theresa, in whom she instilled the importance and |
13 |
| value of an education; her daughter, grandchildren, and special |
14 |
| son-in-law were the apples of her eye; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Miller was a grassroots activist and beloved |
16 |
| community member and was known affectionately as Dear or Aunt |
17 |
| Sarah; her number one goal in life was to help others; she was |
18 |
| the President of the Maywood Happy Hour Senior Citizens Club |
19 |
| and always looked forward to monthly afternoon meetings at the |
20 |
| Maywood Public Library; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, She was a culinary artist who shared her love of |
22 |
| cooking with family, friends, neighbors, and the community; her |
23 |
| caring and sweet personality was reflected through her cooking; |
24 |
| her radiant smile and generosity will be missed by all; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Sarah A. Miller has been deeply |
26 |
| felt by many, especially her daughter, Theresa (Alfred) Kelly; |
27 |
| her grandsons, Brandon, Dwon, and Darris; her godsons, Leo |
28 |
| Howard, Loris, and Lawrence Sparks; her goddaughters, Denise, |
29 |
| Annie, LaDonna, Michelle, and Nicole; her special cousins, |
30 |
| Deurline Black and Merle Lowe; her lifelong friends, Brunette |
