| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Claudia Washington |
4 |
| Thompson, a resident of Oak Park for more than 23 years, on |
5 |
| March 29, 2005; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson was born February 14, 1938, in Lake |
7 |
| Providence, Louisiana; she graduated from Tuskegee Institute |
8 |
| in Tuskegee, Alabama, with a degree in food technology; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, She was employed at Cook County Hospital and spent |
10 |
| her later years working as a supervisor for Community Care in |
11 |
| Oak Park until her retirement; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson was one of the founding members of |
13 |
| APPLE, Black/White Dialogue, and the NAACP Oak Park Chapter; |
14 |
| she was dedicated to the mission of the organizations and she |
15 |
| was relentless in pursuit of solutions; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, She is survived by her daughter, Mecca, and son, |
17 |
| Shaun; she was preceded in death by her husband; therefore, be |
18 |
| it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
20 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
21 |
| Claudia Washington Thompson and extend our sincerest |
22 |
| condolences to her family, friends, and community; and be it |
23 |
| further
|
24 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
25 |
| presented to her family as an expression of our deepest |
26 |
| sympathy.
