| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Paul Chervin of Waukegan |
4 |
| on January 6, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Chervin was born in New York and later moved |
6 |
| to Chicago with his mother and sister; he graduated from high |
7 |
| school at the age of 16; he started at the University of |
8 |
| Illinois Law School by the age of 19, having done undergraduate |
9 |
| work at the University's then-Navy Pier Campus in Chicago, and |
10 |
| graduated in 1967; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, He was barely 22 years of age when he was admitted |
12 |
| to the Illinois bar; he moved to Waukegan in 1967, where he |
13 |
| joined the firm of McClory, Lonchar, Nordigan, and Clark; he |
14 |
| was an assistant Lake County public defender from 1969 until |
15 |
| 1972, when be became a sole practitioner; his legal career |
16 |
| included business and municipal litigation, and of counsel for |
17 |
| banking, newspapers, real estate, and probate; he was counsel |
18 |
| to such entities as the City of Waukegan, the Waukegan Park |
19 |
| District, and the fire protection districts in Countryside, |
20 |
| Long Grove, Lake Villa, Lake Zurich, and Libertyville; he was |
21 |
| managing partner for the Waukegan office of the Chicago law |
22 |
| firm of Wildman, Harrold, Allen, and Dixon; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, He was active in the Lake County and Illinois Bar |
24 |
| associations and a charter member of the Lake County Trial |
25 |
| Lawyers Association; as a retired general counsel of the |
26 |
| Veridian Health Advisory Board, he served on the boards of the |
27 |
| Lake County Chamber of Commerce and Victory Memorial Hospital |
28 |
| and was a member of the Friends of Genesee Theatre; and
|
29 |
| WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his three |
30 |
| sons, Joseph, Aaron, and Adam; therefore, be it
|
