| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Gail Cynthia Mitchell on |
4 |
| Tuesday, April 5, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on April 4, 1940, the second of eight |
6 |
| children born to William Julian and Inez (Ashley) Julian; her |
7 |
| siblings were Gloria (James Williams), Warren (Doris Julian), |
8 |
| Aloma, Michael (Mary Julian), Deborah (Donald Watts), Beatrice |
9 |
| "Cookie" (William Powell), and Maya "Lolita"; she was preceded |
10 |
| in death by her parents, Aloma, and Gloria; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, She married William Mitchell and was blessed with |
12 |
| two sons, Julian Mitchell and Amari Mitchell (Bettra Mitchell), |
13 |
| and six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Diamond, Tiara, Xavier, |
14 |
| Gabriel, and Amari; her extended family and loved ones include |
15 |
| William "Billy" Mitchell, Darryl Mitchell, Adrianne Mitchell, |
16 |
| Kim Jones and family, many cousins, nieces, aunts, uncles, and |
17 |
| friends, especially Harold "Jay" Blackman, a special friend; |
18 |
| and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Mitchell was a leader throughout her |
20 |
| lifetime; she was captain of the cheerleading squad at Wendell |
21 |
| Phillips High School; she was precinct captain of the 34th ward |
22 |
| Democratic organization and supervisor of Senior Citizen's |
23 |
| Exemptions for the City of Chicago for 35 years; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Mitchell has touched many lives with her |
25 |
| special love, teachings, and helping hands, and will be deeply |
26 |
| missed; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
28 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
29 |
| Gail Cynthia Mitchell, and we extend our deepest sympathy to |
30 |
| her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
