| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Mary "Jean" Hunter on |
4 |
| Tuesday, April 5, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mary "Jean" Waters was born on May 25, 1933, in |
6 |
| Shelby, Mississippi, to Cary and Geneva Waters; she was the |
7 |
| first born of three children; her brothers, Robert and |
8 |
| Sylvester preceded her in death; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, On August 24, 1948, she accepted Christ as her |
10 |
| Lord and Savior under the leadership of Reverend R.L. Jenkins |
11 |
| of White Plains Missionary Baptist Church; in April of 1953, |
12 |
| she moved to Chicago, where she joined Holy Star Light |
13 |
| Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Prince of Peace |
14 |
| Missionary Baptist Church, where she diligently served on the |
15 |
| Nurses Aide Committee until her health started to fail; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, On October 17, 1953, she married the love of her |
17 |
| life, Jessie L. Hunter Sr., who preceded her in death; |
18 |
| together, they were the parents of five children, one son, Karl |
19 |
| Joseph, preceded her in death; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Hunter worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 17 |
21 |
| years; she was a loving mother, sincere grandmother, and a |
22 |
| special great-granny; she was full of laughter and great humor; |
23 |
| she was a high-spirited, caring, and loving person and was |
24 |
| cherished by family and friends; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Mary "Jean" Hunter has been deeply |
26 |
| felt by many, especially her daughters, Penny (Caleb), Glenda |
27 |
| Faye, and Cheryl (Tony); her son, Jesse Jr. (Janet); her |
28 |
| step-children, Bobbie Jean and Ivory Joe; her nine |
29 |
| grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren; and her many |
30 |
| relatives and friends; therefore, be it
