| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Richard Way Woodcock of |
4 |
| Godfrey on Friday, April 1, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born July 1, 1923, in Lincoln to Rives and |
6 |
| Helen C. (Leffingwell) Woodcock; he married Lois Lutz, who |
7 |
| preceded him in death in 1964; he married Mary Poulos on May 6, |
8 |
| 1965, in Alton; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Woodcock valiantly served his country as a |
10 |
| member of the U.S. Army during World War II; he graduated from |
11 |
| Shurtleff College and was employed by Mississippi Lime Co. as |
12 |
| vice president for 37 years; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He served on the board of the American Red Cross, |
14 |
| the American Cancer Society, Pride Inc., and Riverbend |
15 |
| Headstart, and was a volunteer at Alton Memorial Hospital; he |
16 |
| was a member and past president of Lockhaven Country Club; his |
17 |
| great love was golf and telling stories, innumerable funny |
18 |
| stories; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Richard Way Woodcock has been |
20 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Mary; his daughter, |
21 |
| Marta Steiner, and her husband, Steve; his grandchild, Evan |
22 |
| Steiner; his sisters, Barbara Morris and Virginia Coles; and |
23 |
| his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
25 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
26 |
| Richard Way Woodcock, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his |
27 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
28 |
| further
