| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Marine Cpl. Kevin M. Clarke, of Tinley Park, was |
3 |
| killed in action by small-arms fire in Qaim, in western Iraq |
4 |
| near the Syrian border, on February 19, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, |
6 |
| where he spent last summer before returning to Iraq for his |
7 |
| second deployment as a rifle team leader with the 1st |
8 |
| Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment; he was scheduled to return home |
9 |
| in March 2005; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, He was a 2002 Andrew High School graduate who will |
11 |
| be remembered by his many friends as a strong, talented athlete |
12 |
| with a big, warm personality; he was a good student who was |
13 |
| kind to everybody and an inspiration to everyone; he |
14 |
| distinguished himself early on as a leader; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Kevin joined the Marine Corps shortly after |
16 |
| graduation, but as far back as junior high, he listed "Navy |
17 |
| Seal" in his yearbook as what he wanted to be when he grew up; |
18 |
| he never had a single doubt about their mission and believed |
19 |
| they were helping to free the people of Iraq; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Kevin is survived by his father and mother, Philip |
21 |
| and Catherine Clarke, and his sisters, Cynthia and Kathryn; |
22 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
24 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that together with his |
25 |
| family, friends, fellow members of the United States armed |
26 |
| forces, and the citizens of this State and this great nation, |
27 |
| we mourn the passing of Marine Cpl. Kevin M. Clarke and we |
28 |
| extend to his family our sincerest condolences; and be it |
