    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act is

amended by changing Section 20 as follows:

    Sec. 20. Civil nature of proceedings. The
The proceedings 
8
under this Act shall be civil in nature.  The
provisions of the 
9
Civil Practice Law, and all existing and future
amendments of 
10
that Law shall apply to all proceedings hereunder
except as 
11
otherwise provided in this Act.
