SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
Appropriates $35,000,000 to the Department of Transportation for the operation of the listed train schedule. Effective July 1, 2006.

AN ACT making appropriations.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The amount of $35,000,000, or so much of that amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Transportation for the operation of the following trains supplementing the existing schedule to include the following frequencies: (1) at least 3 round-trips per day on the Illini between Chicago and Carbondale, serving Carbondale, Centralia, Champaign-Urbana, Du Quoin, Effingham, Gilman, Homewood, Kankakee, Mattoon, and Rantoul; (2) at least 7 round-trips per day on the Hiawatha between Chicago and Milwaukee, serving Chicago and Glenview; (3) at least 5 round-trips per day on the newly-named Abraham Lincoln Express between Chicago and St. Louis, serving Alton, Bloomington-Normal, Carlinville, Dwight, Joliet, Lincoln, Pontiac, Springfield, Summit, and St. Louis Metro East area, with at least one southbound express train to arrive in Springfield before 10 a.m.; and (4) at least 2 round-trips per day on the Illinois Zephyr between Chicago and Quincy, serving Galesburg, Kewanee, La Grange, Macomb, Mendota, Naperville, Plano, Princeton, and Quincy.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2006.
