Amends the Personal Information Protection Act. Provides that, in addition to any remedies provided for under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, any consumer injured by a violation of the Act may institute a civil action to recover actual damages from the data collector.

| AN ACT concerning business.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Personal Information Protection Act is |
5 |
| amended by adding Section 25 as follows: |

| (815 ILCS 530/25 new)
|

| Sec. 25. Additional remedies. In addition to any remedies |
8 |
| provided for under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
9 |
| Practices Act, any consumer injured by a violation of this Act |
10 |
| may institute a civil action to recover actual damages from the |
11 |
| data collector.
