SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 2105/16   from Ch. 42, par. 399

    Amends the River Conservancy District Act. Provides that all contracts for work to be done by a river conservancy district that will exceed $5,000 and that do not involve professional services shall be awarded to the lowest bidder following public notice (now, applies to contracts exceeding $2,500). Effective January 1, 2007.

1     AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The River Conservancy Districts Act is amended
5 by changing Section 16 as follows:
 
6     (70 ILCS 2105/16)  (from Ch. 42, par. 399)
7     Sec. 16. All contracts for work other than professional
8 services, to be done by such conservancy district, the expense
9 of which will exceed $5,000 $2500, shall be let to the lowest
10 responsible bidder therefor upon not less than thirty days'
11 public notice of the terms and conditions upon which the
12 contract is to be let, having been given by publication in a
13 newspaper of general circulation published in said district,
14 and the said board shall have the power and authority to reject
15 any and all bids, and readvertise.
16     And in all other respects such contract shall be entered
17 into and the performance thereof controlled by the provisions
18 of an Act entitled "An Act concerning local improvements,"
19 approved June 14, 1897, in force July 1, 1897, and amendments
20 thereto as nearly as may be; provided, that contracts may be
21 let for making proper and suitable connections between the
22 mains and outlets of the respective sewers in said district,
23 with any conduits, main pipe or pipes that may be constructed
24 by such conservancy district.

26     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
27 1, 2007.
