Amends the State Fair Act. Prohibits the use of the Department of State Police for police protection at a State fairs. Requires the use of local law enforcement agencies for that purpose. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning State fairs.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The State Fair Act is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 9 as follows:
|

| (20 ILCS 210/9) (from Ch. 127, par. 1709)

| Sec. 9. The Department shall provide for the protection of |
8 |
| the State
Fairgrounds, maintain and preserve order and protect |
9 |
| the facilities and
contents from destruction by fire. The |
10 |
| Department is authorized to
regulate vehicle traffic as well as |
11 |
| pedestrians within the State
Fairgrounds. Persons designated |
12 |
| by the Department to provide protection to
the State |
13 |
| Fairgrounds shall have full police powers.
|
14 |
| The Department of State Police may not be used to provide |
15 |
| police protection at a State fair. Local law enforcement |
16 |
| agencies shall be used to provide police protection at a State |
17 |
| fair.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |

| becoming law.
