| AN ACT concerning health.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Vital Records Act is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 24.2 as follows:
|

| (410 ILCS 535/24.2 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 24.2. Disclosure of information; grandparents. The |
| 8 |
| State Registrar of Vital Records or the local registrar shall |
| 9 |
| disclose data about or issue a certified copy of a birth |
| 10 |
| certificate of a child to the grandparent of the child upon the |
| 11 |
| written request of the grandparent when the grandparent has |
| 12 |
| demonstrated to the State Registrar of Vital Records or the |
| 13 |
| local registrar evidence of need for the data or birth |
| 14 |
| certificate.

| 15 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 16 |
| becoming law.
