Amends the School Code. Provides that the regional superintendent of schools is authorized to hire private legal counsel to represent him or her in legal matters (instead of the State's Attorney of
the county where the regional superintendent's office is located acting
as the legal representative). Provides that each county located within the educational service region shall pay a per capita share of the legal fees incurred, based on the number of people in the county according to the most recent U.S. census.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
5 |
| 3A-15 as follows:
|

| Sec. 3A-15. Legal representation. The regional |

| superintendent of schools is authorized to hire private legal |

Upon request |

where matters arise which are within the exclusive |

| jurisdiction of another
State's attorney, said State's |

| attorney shall provide legal representation.
