AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 205

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 205 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4     "Section 5. The Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and
5 Audiology Practice Act is amended by changing Section 8.1 as
6 follows:
 
7     (225 ILCS 110/8.1)
8     (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2008)
9     Sec. 8.1. Temporary license. On and after July 1, 2005, a
10 person who has met the requirements of items (a) through (e) of
11 Section 8 and intends to undertake supervised professional
12 experience as a speech-language pathologist, as required by
13 subsection (f) of Section 8 and the rules adopted by the
14 Department, must first obtain a temporary license from the
15 Department. A temporary license may be issued by the Department
16 only to an applicant pursuing licensure as a speech-language
17 pathologist in this State. A temporary license shall be issued
18 to an applicant upon receipt of the required fee as set forth
19 by rule and documentation on forms prescribed by the Department
20 certifying that his or her professional experience will be
21 supervised by a licensed speech-language pathologist. A
22 temporary license shall be issued for a period of 12 months and
23 may be renewed only once for good cause shown.
24     A person who has completed the course and clinical

1 curriculum required to receive a master's degree in
2 speech-language pathology, as minimally required under
3 subsection (d) of Section 8 of this Act for a license to
4 practice speech-language pathology, but who has not yet been
5 been conferred the master's degree, may make application to the
6 Department for a temporary license under this Section and may
7 begin his or her supervised professional experience as a
8 speech-language pathologist without a temporary license for
9 120 days from the date of application or until disposition of
10 the license application by the Department, whichever is sooner.

12     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13 becoming law.".
