| AN ACT concerning criminal law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Controlled Substances Act is |
5 |
| amended by adding Section 218 as follows: |
6 |
| (720 ILCS 570/218 new) |
7 |
| Sec. 218. Dietary supplements containing ephedrine or |
8 |
| anabolic steroid precursors.
|
9 |
| (a) It is a Class A misdemeanor for any manufacturer,
|
10 |
| wholesaler, retailer, or other person to sell, transfer, or
|
11 |
| otherwise furnish any of the following to a person under 18 |
12 |
| years of
age: |
13 |
| (1) a dietary supplement containing an ephedrine group |
14 |
| alkaloid; or |
15 |
| (2) a dietary supplement containing any of the |
16 |
| following: |
17 |
| (A) Androstanediol; |
18 |
| (B) Androstanedione; |
19 |
| (C) Androstenedione; |
20 |
| (D) Norandrostenediol; |
21 |
| (E) Norandrostenedione; or |
22 |
| (F) Dehydroepiandrosterone. |

| (b) A seller shall request valid identification from any
|
24 |
| individual who attempts to purchase a dietary supplement set |
25 |
| forth in
subsection (a) if that individual reasonably appears |
26 |
| to the seller
to be under 18 years of age.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
28 |
| becoming law.
