| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, It is the distinct pleasure of the members of the |
3 |
| House of Representatives to recognize citizens that have shown |
4 |
| heroic efforts on behalf of the life of another citizen; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, On the morning of November 6th, 2006, two |
6 |
| semi-tractor trailers collided on Illinois Route 1 south of |
7 |
| Paris, Illinois, resulting in an explosion that severely |
8 |
| injured both drivers; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Porter, a Licensed Practical Nurse and |
10 |
| Lakeland College nursing student, was in her home near the |
11 |
| accident site and heard the explosion; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Upon hearing the explosion Ms. Porter ran to the |
13 |
| scene and, according to witnesses, aided one driver in moving |
14 |
| to safety and checked his injuries; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Jeremiah Hall, another nearby resident and |
16 |
| manufacturing plant worker in Indiana, also responded to the |
17 |
| scene upon hearing the explosion and seeing the rising black |
18 |
| smoke; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hall was the first to enter the second truck, |
20 |
| which was surrounded by flames, and began the extraction of the |
21 |
| driver; and |
22 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hall and Ms. Porter worked together to pull |
23 |
| the second driver to safety and extinguish the flames that |
24 |
| covered the lower half of his body; and |
25 |
| WHEREAS, The second driver, whose lower body was engulfed |
26 |
| in flames, was Josh Monroe, the father of two young girls and |
27 |
| driver for Rollet Brothers Trucking, a Missouri based company; |
