| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Saturday, October 14, 2006, is the occasion of |
3 |
| Blue Gargoyle Community Services' 32nd Anniversary Gala at the |
4 |
| South Shore Cultural Center; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, The Blue Gargoyle offers free services for needy |
6 |
| children and families across Chicago's south side; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, From GED preparation in adult learning to family |
8 |
| literacy, from after-school tutoring to the Bronzeville |
9 |
| Academic Center, from individual counseling to employment and |
10 |
| training, the Blue Gargoyle is a critical resource to the |
11 |
| community--and an amazing one; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, The Blue Gargoyle's devoted staff and |
13 |
| hard-working volunteers offer their services always with |
14 |
| warmth and, just about always, with a smile; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, At the Anniversary Gala the Blue Gargoyle will |
16 |
| honor the University of Chicago Service League, Fifth Ward |
17 |
| Alderman Leslie A. Hairston, and Jack Bankman and the Bankman |
18 |
| family for their contributions to the work of the Gargoyle; |
19 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
22 |
| we thank the Service League for its continuing support for the |
23 |
| Blue Gargoyle; we thank Alderman Hairston for her work in |
24 |
| helping the Gargoyle establish an employment center in South |
25 |
| Shore; and we thank the Bankman family for honoring the memory |
26 |
| of their father, Jack, through providing significant support to |
27 |
| the community agency his nephew, Paul Sakol, directs; and be it |
