HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Jean M. Fletcher on the occasion of her retirement after 25 years of service as an Assistant State's Attorney for the 16th Judicial Circuit in Kendall County, Yorkville, IL; and

WHEREAS, In 1981 she was admitted to the Illinois Bar and also the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois General Bar; in 1987 she was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar; and

WHEREAS, She has spent her career prosecuting criminal offenses in a wide variety of areas; she has prosecuted felony crimes, misdemeanors crimes, juvenile violators, traffic violations, child pornography cyber crimes, and elder financial exploitation and disabled adult abuse; she has also worked in the area of child support enforcement and paternity establishment; and

WHEREAS, She has also dedicated much of her career to training others and devising strategies to further prosecute and reduce crime; she has trained new Assistant State's Attorneys, provided orientation of new Sherif's Department Deputies, trained domestic violence and sexual assault volunteers, supervised and evaluated law school student interns and international law student interns, collaborated on the initial mandated Child Advocacy Protocol for Kendall County, developed multi-disciplinary response protocol targeting domestic violence, collaborated on the revision of the Illinois Juvenile Court Act, and trained Illinois Department of Children and Family Services caseworkers; and

WHEREAS, She also spent a considerable amount of time furthering her own education and training to better prosecute and reduce crime; she has studied Advanced Bomb and Arson Prosecution, Date Rape Drugs, Advance Trial Advocacy, Concealed Weapon Carry Law, Prosecuting Sexual Offenders, Domestic Violence Multidisciplinary Approach, Annual Search and Seizure Update, Spanish for Law Enforcement, Capital Litigation Seminar 2001 and2005, Unsafe Havens Online Crime, and Protecting Children Against Internet Predators; and

WHEREAS, She has devoted her entire career to prosecuting criminal offenses, training others on how to better prosecute, and helping to make her district a safer place to live; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jean Fletcher on the occasion of her retirement after 25 years as an Assistant State's Attorney for the 16th Judicial Circuit, Kendall County, Yorkville, IL; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her as an expression of our deep respect and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
