| WHEREAS, Nestled on a 90-acre site in southern Illinois, |
| 3 |
| the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts celebrates the arts |
| 4 |
| year-round with exciting visual and performing arts programs |
| 5 |
| for the public; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The 30th Cedarhurst Craft Fair takes place on |
| 7 |
| September 9 and 10, on the grounds of the Mitchell Museum at |
| 8 |
| Cedarhurst in Mt. Vernon; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Regarded as one of the largest arts and crafts |
| 10 |
| fairs in Illinois, the Cedarhurst craft fair annually draws in |
| 11 |
| more than fifteen-thousand spectators; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Arriving from around the country for the two-day |
| 13 |
| event, more than 100 artisans will offer a variety of crafts on |
| 14 |
| the tree-shaded grounds of Cedarhurst; the juried craft fair |
| 15 |
| showcases the work of quality craftsmen ranging in a variety of |
| 16 |
| mediums, including painting, photography, basketry, glass, |
| 17 |
| jewelry, musical instruments, pottery, and yard art; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Entertainment, located behind the Mitchell House, |
| 19 |
| will feature the musical styles of Dan Seals, Alvin Jett and |
| 20 |
| the Phat NoiZ Blues Band, Last Man Standing, and St. Louis |
| 21 |
| native, Erin Bode; food concessions will be operated by local |
| 22 |
| civic organizations; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, The children's area, also known as "Kidz |
| 24 |
| Construction Zone" will provide activities and playtime for |
| 25 |
| youngsters ages 10 and under, including mini-art sessions, a |
| 26 |
| caricatures artist, tie-dye stamping, face painting, and an |
| 27 |
| inflatable obstacle course; children will be able to create |
| 28 |
| their own art space on the "30th Anniversary Art Canvas" which |
| 29 |
| will be showcased at the Children's Gallery at Cedarhurst in |
| 30 |
