| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to recognize |
3 |
| significant milestones in the lives of the people of this |
4 |
| State; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Virginia |
6 |
| Clementine McCutchen Harris of Oak Park is celebrating the 90th |
7 |
| anniversary of her birth; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Virginia Clementine McCutchen was born on August |
9 |
| 7, 1916, at Englewood Hospital in Chicago to Clifford John |
10 |
| Edward and Lulu Mae Wilson McCutchen; the family resided on |
11 |
| Chicago's South Side for a time, and then traveled around the |
12 |
| country while Clifford worked as a contract painter and |
13 |
| decorator; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris completed her education at McKinley |
15 |
| High School in Chicago and went to work for various places, |
16 |
| including Andes Candies and the Simmons Bedding Company located |
17 |
| in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, In 1941, she married William Harris in Skokie; |
19 |
| five children were born to the couple: Sandra, Gail, Susan, |
20 |
| Mary, and Billy; the family moved to Oak Park in 1950, and |
21 |
| Virginia has continued to live in the house on North Lombard |
22 |
| Avenue ever since; she is the proud grandmother of eleven and |
23 |
| great-grandmother of two; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, She was active in a number of civic groups |
25 |
| including the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; while in the Boy |
26 |
| Scout organization, she achieved the rank of Silver Beaver, and |
27 |
| she and Bill were recognized by the Scouts with a Presidential |
28 |
| award; it is believed that they were the first couple in the |
29 |
| Acorn district to receive this recognition; she also |
30 |
| participated in activities at the Women's Exchange in Oak Park |
