| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, Those individuals who devote their entire lives to |
3 |
| the education of children are worthy of the highest praise; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bettye J. Richardson has spent 42 years |
5 |
| dedicated to the education of children, 33 years in secondary |
6 |
| education within the Chicago Public Schools System and 9 years |
7 |
| in administration; she is retiring on June 30, 2006; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson has been a significant force |
9 |
| behind many of the accomplishments and successes at Edward F. |
10 |
| Dunne Elementary School, where she is principal; she has |
11 |
| provided leadership and supervision to administration, |
12 |
| instructional, clerical, and student support staff; she has |
13 |
| managed over 6,000 elementary school students during her tenure |
14 |
| as principal; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, She has also worked along side her dedicated staff |
16 |
| to have Edward F. Dunne Elementary School recognized by the |
17 |
| Chicago Public Schools Office of Accountability as "The School |
18 |
| of Distinction"; this recognition was due to the students' |
19 |
| outstanding achievements in reading and mathematics on state |
20 |
| level tests; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, She directed an elementary and high school |
22 |
| "Connect Program", which allowed Dunne Elementary School |
23 |
| eighth graders the opportunity to take classes and receive high |
24 |
| school credit; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, She has been called "The Preacher Teacher" by many |
26 |
| of her colleagues because of her commitment to doing "Nothing |
27 |
| Less Than Her Best"; therefore, be it
|
