| WHEREAS, Each year, members of Share Pregnancy and Infant |
3 |
| Loss Support Group in Springfield meet at a "Walk to Remember" |
4 |
| to honor the lives of their children that have died; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Share was started in 1977 at St. John's Hospital |
6 |
| in Springfield by Sister Jane Marie Lamb, OSF, after she had |
7 |
| worked with bereaved parents in Decatur with a group called |
8 |
| AMEND (Aiding Mothers and Fathers Experiencing Neonatal |
9 |
| Death); at the time, there was not much support or knowledge |
10 |
| for parents experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death |
11 |
| of an infant; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, In 1978, Share began providing education on |
13 |
| perinatal loss and bereavement in hospitals, colleges, |
14 |
| seminaries, and support groups; this became part of the |
15 |
| curriculum for St. John's Hospital School of Nursing, Lincoln |
16 |
| Land Nursing School, SIU School of Medicine, and for various |
17 |
| departments at the University of Illinois - Springfield; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The national Share office has moved from |
19 |
| Springfield, first to Belleville, and then to its present |
20 |
| location in St. Charles, Missouri, but the Springfield chapter |
21 |
| of Share continues to meet monthly in support of bereaved |
22 |
| parents; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, Nearly every month for close to twenty years, |
24 |
| Kreston and Elizabeth Lipscomb have facilitated the |
25 |
| Springfield Share chapter; they have shared their own |
26 |
| experience with painful losses and the joy of their three |
27 |
| living children with literally hundreds and hundreds of |
28 |
| bereaved parents, thus offering comfort, support, empathy, and |
29 |
| hope for the future; and

| WHEREAS, This year, the annual "Walk to Remember" is |
