| WHEREAS, Mr. Joseph M. Gagliardo of Chicago has been named |
3 |
| a recipient of the Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Humanitarian of |
4 |
| the Year Award given by the Joint Civic Committee of Italian |
5 |
| Americans (JCCIA); and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, The JCCIA's Joseph Cardinal Bernardin |
7 |
| Humanitarian of the Year Award is presented annually to those |
8 |
| whose lives exemplify the virtues of caring, humanity, and good |
9 |
| will that were the hallmark of Cardinal Bernardin's tenure as |
10 |
| Archbishop of Chicago; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Gagliardo is the Managing Partner of Laner, |
12 |
| Muchin, Dombrow, Becker, Levin, and Tominberg, Ltd., and is the |
13 |
| Chair of its Litigation Department; since joining the Firm as a |
14 |
| partner in 1988, Mr. Gagliardo has been counsel to publicly and |
15 |
| privately held corporations and has represented a number of |
16 |
| public sector employers, including the State of Illinois, State |
17 |
| Treasurer, County of Cook, State's Attorney for Cook County, |
18 |
| Cook County Public Defender, City of Chicago, Chicago Transit |
19 |
| Authority, Chicago Housing Authority, Chicago Board of |
20 |
| Education, and the City Colleges of Chicago; he also serves as |
21 |
| an arbitrator in employment and commercial disputes; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, He has written articles and conducted seminars on |
23 |
| labor and employment relations matters, drafted legislation, |
24 |
| and testified before the Illinois Legislature and the City |
25 |
| Council of the City of Chicago; he has been named one of the |
26 |
| Leading Lawyers in Illinois in the area of labor and employment |
27 |
| law based on a statewide survey of lawyers; Leading Lawyers |
28 |
| comprise less than five percent of all lawyers in Illinois; he |
29 |
| was also selected as one of America's Leading Lawyers for |
30 |
| Business by the Chambers USA in its Guide to America's Leading |
31 |
| Business Lawyers; he was named as one of Illinois' "Super |
32 |
| Lawyers" in labor and employment law and is an elected |
