| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Individuals who commit their lives to the |
3 |
| education of the students of Illinois are worthy of the highest |
4 |
| praise; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, One such individual, Renee Payne, will be retiring |
6 |
| from her position at Saint Cajetan School in Chicago after 19 |
7 |
| years of service; she served six years as a teacher, three |
8 |
| years as an assistant principal, and ten years as principal; |
9 |
| and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Payne brought the school into the new |
11 |
| millennium with state-of-the-art technology, brought an After |
12 |
| School Care Program to the school families, created a free |
13 |
| standing science lab, and instituted computer generated |
14 |
| programs for remediation and for enrichment; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, She instituted the Discipline With Purpose |
16 |
| Program as a curriculum based self-directed discipline program |
17 |
| designed to help children develop the important skills of |
18 |
| self-discipline; presided over numerous improvements to the |
19 |
| school facilities and grounds; modernized the school library, |
20 |
| creating a library/media center; and facilitated Saint Cajetan |
21 |
| School's membership in the National Junior Honor Society, which |
22 |
| allows students to develop leadership skills through service |
23 |
| and academics; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, For 19 years, Ms. Payne has made the business of |
25 |
| education at St. Cajetan School her life's work; she has been |
26 |
| steadfast in her dedication to the students, parents, and |
27 |
| faculty she serves; she has honored the St. Cajetan School |
28 |
| family with grace and good humor; her extraordinary capacity |
29 |
| for giving of herself is a gift that will be most fully |
30 |
| appreciated in its absence; and
