| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, All too often the relationship between the news |
3 |
| media and government is driven by inflexible deadlines and |
4 |
| space constraints and the complexity of translating the |
5 |
| nomenclature to everyday English; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, The people of Illinois have had a unique |
7 |
| opportunity to learn more about the legislative process and |
8 |
| State government in the words of those who make those decisions |
9 |
| through the combined efforts of the State's public broadcasting |
10 |
| stations; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, The talents of broadcasters, producers, and |
12 |
| journalists from across the State were brought together in this |
13 |
| pursuit to focus on issues and allow for true discussions; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, These efforts have come to be known as the |
15 |
| Illinois Lawmakers series; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, As the 2006 Spring Session heads toward |
17 |
| adjournment, the Illinois Lawmakers celebrates the 20th |
18 |
| anniversary of its inaugural presentation; therefore, be it |
19 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
20 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
21 |
| the public broadcasters of Illinois be saluted for their |
22 |
| efforts to go beyond the sound bites and news briefs to offer |
23 |
| substantive reporting of the issues confronting Illinois for |
24 |
| the past two decades; and be it further
|
25 |
| RESOLVED, That the special efforts of the hundreds of |
26 |
| technicians, the on-air work of many broadcasters, including |
27 |
| Bruce DuMont and Jak Tichenor, and the organizational |
28 |
| commitment of executive producer Marty McLaughlin of WTTW-TV be |
29 |
| recognized in this anniversary season; and be it further |
