| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to recognize citizens who have |
| 4 |
| made significant contributions to their communities; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Rosemarie Courtney has been named the 2006 Darien |
| 6 |
| Citizen of the Year by the Darien City Council; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Courtney has lived in Darien for 39 years and |
| 8 |
| has been involved in a number of volunteer activities |
| 9 |
| throughout those years; she has devoted her efforts toward the |
| 10 |
| formation of the youth of Darien and has eagerly lent her heart |
| 11 |
| and hands to scores of community projects; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, As a volunteer with the Cub Scouts, she pounded |
| 13 |
| nails, fashioned birdhouses, and erected weather vanes; her |
| 14 |
| pack hiked through thorny trails, waded through murky streams, |
| 15 |
| and simmered dinner over an open fire; under her leadership, |
| 16 |
| the boys learned about good citizenship and community service, |
| 17 |
| and she was the first to wipe away tears and comfort an upset |
| 18 |
| member; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Courtney is often spotted doing an extra |
| 20 |
| favor, baking extra cupcakes, picking up someone else's |
| 21 |
| children from school, or simply lending an understanding ear; |
| 22 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 24 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 25 |
| we congratulate Rosemarie Courtney on being named the 2006 |
| 26 |
| Darien Citizen of the Year by the Darien City Council, and we |
| 27 |
| thank her for the many hours of volunteer work she has |
| 28 |
| completed throughout the years; and be it further
