| WHEREAS, Ms. Norma Polcek of Rockford was recently named |
3 |
| one of 24 finalists for the 2006 Enterprising Women of the Year |
4 |
| Award through Enterprising Women magazine; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, She is an entrepreneur, president and owner of |
6 |
| Samco Promotional Products, and currently is developing her own |
7 |
| line of shoes called Norma E.; she was chosen as a finalist for |
8 |
| the award because she has accomplished a great deal with her |
9 |
| company, and she also gives back to other women; and |
10 |
| WHEREAS, Samco Promotional Products is a 22-year-old |
11 |
| Machesney Park-based company that boasts more than 100 clients; |
12 |
| she is one of four finalists who have businesses that make $1 |
13 |
| million to $5 million in annual revenue; and |
14 |
| WHEREAS, Originally from Bronx, New York, she came to |
15 |
| Illinois in 1973 with her husband, Bruce; she started her |
16 |
| professional career as a high school math teacher; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, She attended Hunter College of The City University |
18 |
| of New York, where she majored in mathematics major and minored |
19 |
| in education and economics; she holds a master's degree in |
20 |
| mathematics with an education minor; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, She is active in her community and has been a |
22 |
| member of numerous civic and professional organizations, |
23 |
| including as a board member of the Rockford Park District |
24 |
| Foundation; as a member of the Women's Art Board of the |
25 |
| Rockford Art Museum; as a member and past president of the |
26 |
| Women Presidents' Organization, Chicago chapter; and as a board |
27 |
| member of Leadership Illinois, a statewide women's leadership |
28 |
| organization; and |
29 |
| WHEREAS, She is the proud mother of Sharyn, Alyssa, and |
