| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, It is one of the privileges of the House of |
3 |
| Representatives to commend and pay due honor and respect to |
4 |
| persons who have given selflessly of themselves to the citizens |
5 |
| of this State; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mary Alice D'Arcy recently celebrated 25 years of |
7 |
| service with Easter Seals DuPage; during that 25 years, she has |
8 |
| seen the services that Easter Seals DuPage offers grow to |
9 |
| include 70 on-staff therapists; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, She was the recipient of the Myrtle M. and Tom B. |
11 |
| Medders Award from National Easter Seals in recognition of her |
12 |
| outstanding leadership and management of Easter Seals DuPage; |
13 |
| and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, She started her work with Easter Seals DuPage as a |
15 |
| social worker in 1980 and was named Executive Director in 1995; |
16 |
| she maintains her Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW) through |
17 |
| continuing education courses; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, During her tenure as Executive Director, she |
19 |
| oversaw the completion of a 31,000-square-foot building that |
20 |
| serves the therapy needs of nearly 3,000 children with |
21 |
| disabilities each year; following completion of the new |
22 |
| building, Ms. D'Arcy obtained a grant to reinstate Social |
23 |
| Services, a department that supports the therapies by helping |
24 |
| children and families cope with the external issues involved in |
25 |
| disability; these services are provided at no cost to the |
26 |
| families of the children served; and |
27 |
| WHEREAS, Under her direction, more services are provided to |
28 |
| children through the Sponsor-A-Child Program, which continues |
29 |
| to grow and provide therapy services to children who otherwise |
30 |
| could not afford it; she is also very active with the |
